Greetings from the Florida Keys!
The Keys are a chain of unique and inter-connected islands that end in the City of Key West.  It is the southernmost point in the U.S., just 90 miles from Cuba.  The Florida Keys, known locally as "The Conch Republic", are a spectacular and laid-back sub-tropical paradise, surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay/Gulf of Mexico. The Keys feature great fishing, kayaking, snorkeling and diving, hotels, resorts, B&B’s and cuisine and cocktails to fit every budget.  There is entertainment to fit every taste, important history and a unique culture, sunsets that will keep you spellbound, special events going on throughout the year including the KEYS100, of course, and you don’t need a passport to visit here!  Well, what are you waiting for?  We've saved a space for you!

THE 2012 RACES
The 5th annual KEYS100 will be held the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, 2012.  The race is a point-to-point event beginning in Key Largo (or Marathon, for the 50 mile race) and ending in Key West on the Atlantic Ocean at Smathers Beach.  KEYS100 also promotes charitable fundraising for prostate cancer education and free screenings, and for 2012 in support of the work of "The Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys".  Individual runners and teams are provided an opportunity to earn a refund of their full race entry fee.

The three competitions: Each year, individual races of 100 miles and 50 miles, and our original South Florida six runner 100 mile team relay race are included in the KEYS100.  In the individual races, runners may compete with a support crew or without.  In 2012 for the first time, crewed and un-crewed runners will compete together.  Eleven (11) full aid stations will be available for all individual runners at approximately ten (10) mile intervals. Coolers with ice and water will be positioned at approximately five (5) mile intervals. People competing without a crew may place drop bags with personal gear at five (5) different support stations along the route.  Over 700 people competed in the 2011 KEYS100.  That number is expected to exceed 1,000 in 2012.

EVER RUN A MARATHON?
Looking for something different—with excellent bragging rights?  Move up to the challenge of an ultramarathon.  Run from Key Largo or Marathon City to Key West, through the amazing scenery and colors of the Florida Keys.

EVER RUN A HALF-MARATHON OR 10K?
Then the KEYS100 Relay Race is perfect for you—and five of your running friends!  Our relay format is a lot of fun, uniquely flexible and easy to organize.  You and your mates design your own race strategy: how many legs each team member will run and how long each segment will be.  (Two mile minimum length.)  You may even make changes to your plan during the race.  Then there is the artistic side—naming your team, decorating your team vehicle, insulting the competition…  Unique, Keys-focused awards, too!  Compete in a 100 mile race without running the entire distance yourself—the KEYS100 Team Relay.

The KEYS100 races are the only USATF Sanctioned 50 and 100 mile ultramarathons in South Florida.
